 About us

Canberra Baptist Church is a community of around 250 people. Our mission statement is ‘Building a vibrant and open community which is responsive to God’s love in Christ and committed to serving God and people’, and we have three goals—led by the Spirit, we will:

  • explore together what it means to follow Jesus today, 
  • build an inclusive, caring community, and
  • share God’s love and justice in words and actions.

We established the Currie Crescent Community Centre in 2014 and run some of its programs, while others are run by groups who hire space. Programs include a parents’ group, a playgroup, a free professional counselling service, yoga classes, and Cooking Circles (a group of people who come together once a month to prepare and eat a meal), music, dance, scouting activities, and Tara’s Angels, a subsidiary of BaptistCare that provides post-crisis support for women who have experienced domestic violence.  Further details are at

We are looking to expand our ministry team to include a person or people with the skills and experience needed to

  • further develop ministries to youth, young adults and young families and
  • further develop the Currie Crescent Community Centre as a ministry of the Church to the surrounding community.

About you

You have a demonstrated Christian commitment, a pastoral heart, a concern for social justice, and be a collegial worker. Applications from ordained ministers are encouraged but ordination is not required.

You can bring skills to our ministry team that will build its capacity to:

  • Support youth, young adults and young families in developing their faith as part of the CBC community
  • Provide pastoral support to youth, young adults and young families
  • Develop strategies for expanding the Church’s ministry to youth, young adults and families


  • Manage the operations of the Currie Crescent Centre, with administrative support from our Office Manager
  • Liase with existing and potential new users of the Centre
  • Develop strategies for further developing the Centre as a ministry of CBC, including by creating synergies between existing and new Centre activities

You are interested in either full-time work or part-time work (about 20 hours a week).
