Wonderful Privilege for Us

Naw Thaw Thaw Mu Htoo

When I feel afraid or lonely or I think I have lost my way but still you are here, right beside me. While I’m feeling hopeless and everything for me is very dark, still you open my heart to feel hope and open my eyes to see the light that shines like the sun.

I have been a refugee since 1990, until now. As refugees we have no opportunity to go outside the world and see what is happening or even go back to our own beautiful country. But, there are many Karen people who stay back there and are suffering. I lose all sense of happiness while thinking about my people. But I know that there is someone who gives us hopes for the future, and He is God.

Though we are in a refugee camp, by the grace of God we still have lots of opportunities to equip ourselves to go back and build up our country for when we get freedom. We have an opportunity to worship, to study, to go around in the camp, freedom to communicate with our own people both Christian and non-Christian, freedom to get food and also freedom to access health care. We have NGOs like ZOA, TOPS, ICS, Consortium, who help us in the Education field. For health we’ve got MSF, WHO, SMRU and so on. We have this Bible School and College, which is a great blessing for us.

But it is not a peaceful place for us because it’s not our own land. We want to go back and I strongly believe that one day we will get freedom and go back to our home.
