It's two thousand years since the Angels first sang
"Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Mankind".
But what have we learnt in those two thousand years?
Peace on Earth? Love and Hope? Peace of Mind?

The years have moved on, but the people remain,
Making wars, self-indulgence still rules.
The Angels' glad song is not heard any more
In most homes, or at work, or in schools.

We worship the New Gods, Wealth, Prestige and Power
While neglecting our family and friends.
Material things are now given first place
Our striving for them never ends.

Society crumbles as profits increase,
Education's not meeting our needs.
More children seek drugs. as a way to escape,
Our suicide rate simply speeds.

The Good Earth God gave us is being destroyed
So that Big Business' profits can grow
Share-holders don't care how their money is made,
They simply would rather not know.

To whom can we turn for the help that we need?
Our M.P.s? We no longer can trust.
More Professionals seem so intent on the cash
That their clients are treated as dust.
