Please keep praying for the people in our church currently receiving treatment for cancer, and their families and the medical teams looking after them. Please also pray for Helen Stafford’s recovery, and for Ana Rengel’s mother recovering from broken ribs.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Thank Offering in May. A total of $37,523.59 has been donated to Baptist World Aid for the project “Improving the lives of people with disabilities in Bangladesh”, which includes $7100 from our solar panels and $1817 from money raised through Monica’s Yoga class. A report on the project is available here – Link to Project Report
Church Meeting: For those unable to attend, our May Quarterly Meeting provided a budget for 2026-27 and heard updates on the pastoral search process and site management plans.
Please take a few moments to complete the Property Survey and help shape how our church and community facilities may better serve into the future. The survey closes 10 June 2026 – click here.
The Rev. Nancy Leng died on 19 May 2026. Nancy and Bill Leng were passionate advocates for women ministry and social justice and a great loss to the NSW Baptists when they moved back to Melbourne following Nancy’s retirement from ministry at Epping Baptist and Bill’s retirement from Morling College. Nancy was among the first group of women (which included Jeanette) to be accredited for ordination in NSW.
Fran and James Carter depart Australia tomorrow for three months in Europe. We hope you have a wonderful time. James has organised musicians to play when he is away.

Property Survey

We need your help to make the Canberra Baptist Church and Currie Cres Community Centre a place that meets your needs and positions us for now and the future. We are exploring a potential building project for the Waldock Hall/McMaster Lounge complex to provide extended and improved facilities for the benefit of the Church and the Community.
This survey asks you to suggest opportunities for us to make the community centre complex more useful and better suited to the needs of the wider community and church. The survey also invites you to identify limitations in relation to our existing buildings and facilities.
The survey includes an optional creative exercise and will close 10 June 2026. Responses from individuals and groups are welcome.
If you require assistance with completing the survey, please approach Wendy Holland (m) 0412 064 034, (email) wholland171@gmail.com or the church office.
For further information please email office@canbap.org, enquire at our office reception, or speak with a Site Committee member:James Carter (chair), Peter Churcher, John Clark, Steve Coster, Wendy Holland, Patrick Paynter and Felicity Volk.

Electrify Open House – Home, Solar & EV’s Electrification

Sunday, June 14, 2026 – starting at 2pm (1 Tewksbury Cct Theodore, ACT 2905)
Meryl and Glenn Jackson are having an event at their house to discuss issues around the electrification of your home and driving an EV. This will be our next Open Conversation event.
They have replaced all the gas appliances in their house, in the kitchen with an induction stove and cook top, the gas hot water with a heat pump, the gas heating with electric heaters. They have also purchased an EV and have added extra solar panels, a home battery with a bi-directional EV charger (Vehicle to home). They are using Amber as their electricity provider.
At 2.15 pm Anil, an electrical engineer, who works with Solar4Life will give a 10 minute general conversation around what electrification can do for you. The company installed the Jackson’s solar and battery. He will not do a hard sell.
Anil has offered to generally answer people’s questions but if you want to talk specifically about your house, bring an electricity bill and he will be happy to talk one on one with you.
Bring your EV if you want to try the bi-directional EV charger using your EV to power our house. We will demonstrate this with our ATTO3 and a friend’s Tesla.
No need to register, just turn-up. We are looking forward to seeing you there – click here for more details.

Canberra Refugee Support Geoff McPherson Education Awards
Tuesday, 16 June, 9:30am at the Cook Hub Hall (41 Templeton Cres, Cook)
As part of World Refugee Week (14-20 June 2026) we are invited to the CRS Education Awards, a program Canberra Baptist supported by providing $5,000 through our Christmas Offering.
The Education Awards are an important part of CRS’s assistance to refugees and asylum seekers. The Awards recognise meritorious performance and encourage and support outstanding refugee students with their education and training. They help students (or their families) cover education costs and feel welcomed and rewarded in their new life in Australia.
This is a wonderful, heart warming event and you are welcome to be part of it!

Young Families
At Canberra Baptist, we are delighted to have young families, children and babies at church! During worship, we offer:
- Family Corner – in the church foyer with craft, books and (quiet) toys. Feel free to take these into the worship space.
- Creche – a dedicated room in the church hall (turn right after entering the foyer). This room is for 0 to 5 year olds and their carers. It has a bottle warmer, nursing chairs, toys and activities and a live streaming TV so you can see and hear what’s happening in the church. Please note, children are not to be left unattended.
- Change table – inside the entry to the hall toilets.
Please note, you need to supervise your children in all these areas. And please leave the space as you found it – it’s a huge help!
