THE RANSOM WINDOW Herbert and Myrtle Ransom were associated with the small Baptist community in Canberra from the time Baptist services were first held in 1927, prior to the opening of this church. Mr Ransom was a foundation member and deacon and the church's first secretary until his death in 1958. Mrs Ransom was the church's first organist in 1929, a role which she fulfilled for many years. She was the choir mistress for a long period. The window depicts King David, and was donated by their daughter, Mrs Shirley Eggar, who says that her father was a strong leader like David. The harp is included as a reminder of her mother's music ministry. Theme: Praise ye the Lord. I will praise the Lord with all my whole Heart, in the assembly of the Upright and in the Congregation. Psalm 111:1 |
